I am almost going through the same procedure now. Sallie Mae sent money on my behalf to ACTT, Quincy, MA. THe school closed before I could finish the first course. I sent the requested forms to Sallie Mae and Deparment of Education (Mass). They have been investigating this issue since 2002. Which I did not know, because after I sent them the forms they said I was going to be all set and I never heard from them agian. I ran my credit report and found it was on there. I have contacted both Sallie Mae and Mass. DOE and they have been giving me nothing but a hard time. BUt they will not tell me I owe the money. But they are also not saying that I do not owe the money. I am waiting for a response to find out the School's Lawyer and Contact information which is the only school that does not have this information on the Mass. DOE website. Funny, they were so quick to respond to my other letters, but once I asked these two questions, I haven't heard anything. Senator Ted Kennedy and the United Stated Education Department are now involved and aware of my situation. But it has been two months, so I just sent another letter to David Driscoll, Education Commissioner, for the Mass Branch. I also copied Senator Ted Kennedy agian.
