New book title available for contributions

The SLAVE "Survival Guide for Student Loan Borrowers" is posted under "books" and is available for chapter contributions by borrowers and advocates. Please feel free to suggest other book titles that would be of interest to our membership.

book

Anything I've submitted (harms form, etc.) can be put into the book as far as I'm concerned---got lots of collector's tactics experience (legal and illegal).

Collector's tactics...

... would be an excellent chapter to include in a "Survival Guide" for student loan borrowers. The book would have the greatest value if many of the chapters are written by borrowers and edited by advocates (attorneys, law students, and paralegals) to ensure legal accuracy. Thanks for your comments, sinnerschurch.

Book Topic

I am reading "Take Control Of Your Student Loan Debt" by Robin Leonard
& Deanne Loonin. It was the only book I found on this subject so far.

Also, I would like to know if there is any books on general legal
advice on student loans. I did find a chapter in a book called "The
Road To Wealth" by Suze Orman. The chapter is on student loans with
legal type advice. It's terrible, there is so little information on
student loans.

It's a stacked deck...

There is definitely a lack of publications providing legal advice to student loan borrowers. The legal framework constitutes such a "stacked deck" against student loan borrower litigation that there isn't a lot of useful information that can be provided to borrowers. This is why the millions of student loan borrowers in the U.S. MUST become activists in the fight to reform our student loan industry, including reform of the laws and regulations that treat student loan borrowers in a manner disparate from borrowers of other types of loans. No applicable statutes of limitations and the difficulty in obtaining discharge in bankruptcy are two prime examples. If student loan borrowers do not speak with one voice, the legal landscape is unlikely to change.

Perhaps we could create a book topic on our website with chapters submitted by student loan borrowers who have experiences to share related to legal issues. Our attorney volunteers could review the submissions and provide additional information and comments, building the member submissions into an online book that could be helpful to borrowers. This could be the most expeditious path to getting a "guide" with legal information relevant to student loan borrowers online. My concern is whether we have a "critical mass" of members who can contribute such experiences. Members who are interested in contributing content to this type of book, please post a reply.
